How Gemini image watermark removal works

Google Gemini marks generated images with a semi-transparent overlay in the lower-right corner. Because the overlay is alpha-blended on top of your image, the original pixels underneath are still present. OverlayMend reverses the blend mathematically — original = (watermarked − α × 255) / (1 − α) — restricted to the detected region, so the rest of the image is untouched.

Supported placements

Adaptive — newer Gemini stills with the sparkle inset from the corner.
Classic — older Gemini stills with the sparkle nearer the corner.

Tips for best results

Start with auto-detection, then nudge Strength and X/Y if any faint outline remains.
Export as PNG to avoid re-encoding loss.
Heavy cropping can move the overlay — use the size and position sliders to realign.

What it will not do

OverlayMend does not remove SynthID, C2PA provenance, invisible watermarks or arbitrary copyright marks. It processes the supported visible overlay only.
