Responsible Use

OverlayMend is a precise editing tool — please use it ethically.

Only edit media you’re allowed to

Use OverlayMend on media you created or have permission to modify. Removing a visible mark does not change the ownership, licensing, or provenance obligations attached to a file.

What OverlayMend does not remove

  • SynthID and other invisible AI provenance signals.
  • C2PA content credentials and metadata.
  • Arbitrary copyright watermarks, stock-photo marks, or photographer signatures.

OverlayMend processes the supported visible overlay only. It is not a tool for disguising AI-generated content or misrepresenting authorship.

Be transparent

If you publish AI-generated media, consider disclosing that it is AI-generated where appropriate. Removing a visible badge does not make content “not AI-generated.”
